About Triangular Comics & Zines

Triangular Comics & Zines began in 2021 as a resource hub and newsletter for comics creators in and around the Triangle (if you’re not from ’round ‘ere, that’s loosely North Carolina’s Wake County, Durham County, and Orange County) regardless of age, experience, genre preference, or any other demographic difference.

In 2024 the site I added an online marketplace showcasing the community of of comics creators, zine-makers, book artists, and other creative folks working in this corner of the art world and this chunk of the state.

Triangular Comics & Zines is the creation (with LOTS of support and encouragement) of designer/artist Patrick Holt. Patrick is also a former librarian at Durham County Library, where he inherited Amy Godfrey‘s annual Durham Comics Fest program and created the Triangle Comics Creator Network.

Submissions

Note: we’re pausing new acquisitions for now, but we still want to hear from you for future consideration, so submissions are still welcome!

Are you a cartoonist, zine maker, book artist, or other similar creative type working in and around the Triangle? Want to sell your wares in an online store devoted to works by folks like you? Get in touch with the form below!

Although the shop isn’t open for business yet, we’d love to add you to our interest list for future consideration. We won’t end up carrying everything, but we hope to sell a wide range of works from a wide range of creators. Here’s a quick rundown of what we’re looking for:

• Work by creators in North Carolina’s Durham County, Orange County, Wake Counties, and adjacent counties, and which fall into the following categories
• Comics of any genre – memoir, humor, fantasy/sf, art, indie, superhero, etc.
• Zines of all types – political, instructional, perzines, fanzines, etc.
• Other publications – magazines, poetry chapbooks, artist’s books, etc.
• Items that are self-published (photocopied or “professionally” self-published) or released by publishing houses of any size
• Other kinds of items – we want to focus on comics, zines, and other book-like items, but we’re happy hear your proposal for something else
• Items with a retail price of $1.00 and up

Other details:

• When we begin purchasing, we will have both wholesale (purchased outright beforehand) and consignment (paid out after a sale) agreements available. Read the full text of the agreements
• Both wholesale and consignment agreements will have a 70/30 split, meaning Triangular Comics & Zines will pay you 70% of the retail price. Read more about the 70/30 split
• Inventory quantity will be sorted out depending on other details.
• A retail agreement with us is not exclusive.
• If we end up tabling at the same in-person event, you can tell us not to include your items at our table, so that your sales aren’t diluted by Triangular Comics & Zines’ presence.
